The British luggage makers join forces with the iconic 007 franchise to celebrate 60 years of Goldfinger
A suited and suave Sean Connery leaning nonchalantly against a silver Aston Martin DB5 as the backdrop of country hills rolls out into the distance is consecrated in cinematic history as the defining moment of cool. It’s been 60 years since what has now been dubbed “the most famous car in the world” first graced the silver screen in Goldfinger. To celebrate the occasion, Globe-Trotter’s new Goldfinger Carry-On case will launch as an exclusive limited-edition collection of 60 cases.
Inspired by the silver birch finish of the Aston Martin DB5, the Goldfinger Carry-On case boasts a high-gloss metallic silver exterior featuring a black leather trim on the corners and straps. The chequered pattern on the lining of each suitcase is a tasteful nod to the sleek three-piece glen check suit donned by Connery in his role as the silver screen’s first-ever James Bond.
Since the vehicle made its debut appearance, the three-sided revolving number plate including the British BMT 216A has been a continuous motif within the Bond franchise. To continue this tradition, a set of three charms featuring the British, French and Swiss plates are available as decorative accessories alongside the suitcases.
Much like the Aston Martin DB5, Globe-Trotter knows what it means to travel in style. Since 1897, Globe-Trotter has been manufacturing luxury cases that covet a timeless spirit of innovation, sophistication and adventure. These traits go hand in hand with the legacy of 007, with which Globe-Trotter has established a collaborative partnership for several years.
‘We are thrilled to further our long-standing relationship with the iconic 007 franchise, a partnership built on shared values and a deep respect for heritage,’ says Vicente Castellano, executive chairman of Globe-Trotter. ‘The 60th Anniversary of Goldfinger offers a unique opportunity to craft a bold and striking collector’s piece that pays tribute to this legendary film. This limited-edition case embodies the spirit of adventure and sophistication that defines both Globe-Trotter and the world of James Bond.’
Keep an eye out for further additions to the 007 collection, including a poker and backgammon set and small leather accessories launching next month.
In celebration of Global James Bond Day on Saturday 5 October, the limited-edition collection will be available to purchase at Globe-Trotter’s flagship stores in London, Tokyo and Paris as well as online at globe-trotter.com/collections/007-goldfinger and at 007store.com.
