The latest luggage collection by Globe-Trotter pays homage to the charming autumnal landscape of the Cotswolds
The picturesque landscape of the richly rural Cotswolds region is the inspiration behind Globe-Trotter’s latest luggage collection, available from Wednesday 28 August 2024.
The Cotswolds Collection boasts a classic Centenary-style strap variation, created in three sizes and two vibrant colourways. A Carry-On, Check-In suitcase along with a Mayfair Case are available in a sumptuous Marmalade/Natural and an opulent Coffee Brown/Holiday Orange, and accompanied by a pair of beautiful leather charms. The design pays homage to the warm hues and distinct textures of autumn – reminiscent of cosy cottages, blazing log fires and crisp auburn leaves.
‘Translating the inspiration from the Cotswolds into the design was a wonderfully creative process,’ says James Fisher, Product Development Director at Globe-Trotter. ‘We began by focusing on the rich and varied colour palette that defines the Cotswolds and we wanted to ensure that every piece in this collection captures that quintessentially British feel. The colourway is a direct reflection of this, providing a sense of warmth and familiarity that resonates with those who appreciate the beauty of the Cotswolds.’
For over a century, Globe-Trotter has cherished the traditions of the British countryside. Handcrafted in Hertfordshire, Globe-Trotter cases are produced by highly skilled artisans with meticulous attention to detail, style and design, and a particular focus on innovation and endurance so that they’re made to last a lifetime.
‘We collaborated closely with our British tannery to experiment with new techniques for the leather straps, and the texture we achieved is simply stunning. It adds a depth and richness to the cases that is both visually and tactilely pleasing, making each piece feel luxurious and unique. It’s a testament to what can be accomplished when you push the boundaries of traditional craftsmanship.’
The Cotswolds Collection is another glorious addition to Globe-Trotter’s inimitable catalogue of luxury travel accessories. Notably, each case features a woven leather strap for security during your travels, echoing the heritage of willow weaving and basketmaking that’s woven into the fabric of the pastoral Cotswolds landscape.
‘Basketmaking is one of the oldest crafts in the world,’ says Norah Kennedy, a veteran basketmaker based in the Cotswolds who has been weaving willow for over four decades. ‘Basketmaking reflects so many cultural traditions from around the world. Techniques are passed down through generations, sharing ancient traditions and stories. It’s a natural process that can only be done by hand, so every single basket carries the maker's history and skill.’
This attention to legacy and longevity is most evident in the leather charm, embellished with the original Globe-Trotter logo which dates back to 1897, sold separately as an additional accessory to the Cotswolds Collection case.
The Cotswolds Collection is the optimal travel accessory to kickstart your autumn adventures.
